Help!!!
2002 Dodge 3500 Engine Died And It Was The Vp Pump. Installed A New Pump, Changed Fuel Filter, Already Have The Updated Lift Pump In Tank. Primed Fuel System And Drove About 5 Miles And Engine Started Sputtering And Shut Off. Loosened Up Fuel Lines At Head And Cranked Over Engine. Alot Of Air Came Out And The Engine Started. Drove 5 More Miles And It Done The Same Thing. I Installed A Lift Pump At The Original Location In Line With Pump In Tank. I Have Higher Fuel Pressure But Engine Is Still Getting Air In Fuel. Any Suggestions.

Start re-checking ALL of you fuel line connections. When you installed the in-tank pump, did you use a relay wired harness or did you just extend the stock wire connection?
You should give fuel pressure specific numbers .
But it does sound like its sucking air , who installed the new pump ?
Have them make right .
If you installed , check all fittings to make sure they are all tight , having a torque wrench can be important , over tightening can cause issues .
Then is possible that you have a crank line , need to rig up a blow gun with a gauge to see if there is a crack , too small to see , plug one end , pressure in other .
I may be a defective pump .
And if your lucky , just a lot of air to bleed out , getting running a few more times .
Then a bad possibility , miss diagnosed the problem in the beginning , the best thing to do is start over as new problem [ not assuming anything is good ] fuel pressure test , lowest pressure at wide open throttle , is 7lbs , that from memory so double check spec.s , 12 -15 at idle .

i installed the vp pump myself the dealer installed the in-tank pump 60,000 miles ago. as for fuel specs, with engine at idle i have 6-7psi and wot 5psi. i had the old vp pump put on a bocsh test stand and it was not putting out proper specs. so i replaced the vp pump, fuel filter. i have blead out the fuel system more than enought. the in-tank pump does have the factor harness with a relay. ive rechecked all the banjo fittings and looked for any possible leaks around filter base.
