no way would I consider removing the heat exchanger. a liquid to liquid cooler is WAY more efficient than ANY liquid to air cooler. an automatic trans can make a tremendous amount of heat from the torque converter when it is not in lockup and the cooler you keep the trans the longer it will last. most transmissions like 180 to 210 degrees oil temp. as the oil temp rises above 230 the life drops drastically.

On the contrary why would you want a liquid to liquid cooler surounded by an extremly hot manifold plus it being tied into the water system when my water temp goes up in turn the tranny temp also rises. to me it seems like i would rather delete or move my liquid to liquid into another location thats the direction i was thinking.

it is not really a problem where it is in proximity to the manifold.

< plus it being tied into the water system when my water temp goes up in turn the tranny temp also rises.>

like I said the converter can make a massive amount of heat real fast, especially on takeoff or a hard pull when not in lockup, but as soon as it goes to lockup than it can cool its self down. as to water temp if your temp gets over 240 you need to pull over and find out why it got that hot. the trans is just fine in the same SAFE temp range as the engine.

I would not have a problem moving it to another location but use high quality lines as it can see over 240 PSI is reverse. another step you could take is to add another cooler BEFORE the exchanger if you are worried about adding that much heat to the cooling system and not over cool the trans if you are in a very cold climate.
