Headlight issue

Ok the other evening I'm cruising along and have to turn off the high beams due to an oncoming vehicle, I hit the switch and my headlight turn off completely! I hit the switch again and their back on but still on high! I keep hitting the switch--high beams/off---bach and forth. Finally I get low beams, has anyone else had a similiar experience? Is it a quick fix?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Quick fix is turn signal switch or multifunction switch. Same piece.

Look at your wiring harness first. I had no low beams at all, just day time running lights (canadian) When I was installing my trans gauge (column mount) I found my connector had a wire that was burn't. Apparenly not making proper contact. The connector is very easy to check. Repaired burn't area with a new wire (heavier gauge) and ran the wire into the harness connector seperately, due to the fact old wiring caused a burn't area in the connector body. Nothing that a dremel didn't take care of. Now I'm good to go. Wished I had done this first as opposed to buying a new day time module, thinking that was my problem

It's the purple wire under the steering column cover. Mine did the same thing, it's from tilting the steering column. The wire came unplugged. It's a little short so i used some RTV to aid it with staying connected.

Hey thanks for the help-all the info will give me a place to start looking. Is getting to the multi-function switch a pain? Pull the steering wheel and there it is, or is there more to it?

No need to pull the wheel. Just take the cover off and it's on the left . Cluster of wires. the Low/high beam wire that was my problem is purple.

Also sometimes it's as easy as spraying some brake clean/contact cleaner in the switch itself. Kinda got to shoot it where you think the contacts are for high/low switching. Sometimes dust and what not gets on the contacts and makes a crummy connection.
