Question Grinding noise when turning left.

It is not all the time, but when I make a left turn I hear a grinding noise. Reminds me of having the truck in 4 wheel drive while driving on pavement.. Could someone give me some ideas as to what it could be. Fluids in rear end and tranny are good and were changed just a few thousand miles ago.

Any left turn...or only hard left?
Just left or both directions?

First guess that come to mind is oversized tires and some rubbing? What size tires are on the 02?

Low on friction modifier additive in diff. fluid? Try adding some and see if it helps. My 02 does the same thing and I might just change the fluid all together along with a different modifier. Was trying Equa-torque but I'm going to switch to LubeGard modifier with the fluid change. Hope it helps.

i posted this several years ago, here it again......
here`s a new twist on the sealed wheel bearings on my 01 3500 .... (rwd) I noticed a strange noise when turning left, the noise would go away when I applied my brakes. so I figured it`s time to replace at least the front pads. but when I jacked it up , I found a real loose wheel bearing ... fearing the bearing had gone out, I proceeded to dismantle it (drivers side) Imagine my surprise when I started to remove the bearing nut and found it loose !!! apparently the rotation of the forward motion had loosend the self locking nut.... If I had not caught it early on, It could have caused some real damage..... So here`s a word of caution to any body that has a rwd dodge with sealed front wheel bearings------check dhe drivers side nut. the self locking feature on mine failed ----- mileage is about 113K

I am going to agree with john mine made a grinding noise when turning left too and my drivers side wheel bearing went out on it. it did not do it all the time just every once in a while. mine has the sealed bearings too so i would check that before it goes out on you while you are driving
