Got Mystery To Solve Here
My truck is being moody and I can't figure out why. Sometimes it feels like I got an anchor dragging and the truck feels like a dog. When this happens it still builds boost, RPM's and holds 14 pounds of fuel pressure but no smoke at all even with the Comp on 5 x 5. When it's not being being moody everything is the same except for smoke, on 5 x 5 you can't see the cars behind you and it feels like a rocket launching. Even with the Comp turned down to normal settings I still get some smoke when it's runnin good. It feels like it's defueling early but the RPM's are consitant. I have checked for pressure leaks and fixed what I found, this was a bad elbow from Comp so they sent me a new one. It will build up to 30 pounds of boost. Even Scooby Doo and Shaggy couldn't solve this one.
Had that issue once already and sent it back to them a couple of months ago for updating. The update did make a huge difference in performance. I'd like to think it's not still the box but an option I guess.
sounds like either the box or the VP is taking a dump. Unhook the box (I know it won't be much fun to drive) and see if it is more consistent on power. If it still does it, I'd look for a VP.
Just put a new Blue Chip IP in less than 2000mi ago. Truck still has all it's low end power, it pulls heavy pretty regular. Shovelhead, I'm with you on the Smarty but I want to add it to the Comp instead of replacing it.
