Good source for rubber vacuum line parts?
Good source for rubber vacuum line parts?
I have a '98 2500 quad cab 2WD.
Neither my cruise nor my vent controls work. The vacuum pump pulls good vacuum from the metal nipple on the pump, but there is no vacuum at the firewall. All of the rubber "connectors" for the vacuum lines are hopelessly cracked - particularly the reducer piece that connects directly to the pump.
The Dodge dealer wants an outrageous sum for each piece. I can make due with standard vacuum hose in some areas, but not all.
Does anybody know a good source for these unique rubber vacuum parts?
Thanks.

I'm not sure where exactly your problem is, but I have some experience with the same problem. I broke the hard line going to the small "manifold" just forward of the firewall while changing my lift pump. I made a splice by cutting the end off of a plug and using the tubular half as a coupler. You can engineer a vacuum system with aquarium plumbing parts if you don't want to buy dealer parts like the rest of us are willing to

A couple of ideas
Well, I guess I'll update my own post.
The adapter that slips over the vacuum pump nipple was broken. Take some 1/2" rubber hose and a brass fitting [1/2" male NPT to 3/16" hose barb]. "Screw" the fitting into the hose and slip the hose over the vacuum pump nipple. Use 3/16" fuel hose from the fitting to the manifold on the firewall.
I spliced a broken hard plastic vacuum line with a 2" section of aquarium tubing.
Thanks to Chounard for the inspiration.

I actually use Goodyear 65111 vacuum tubing from AutoZone and drip sprinkler connectors. They're little black connectors, tees, and elbows from Lowes or HD that run about $2 for a mixed pack of 10.....
