I think I figgered' it out.I guess you have to let the lift pump run and then drain it if it has been shutdown for a while.Other than that I can't get anything to come out.

I've always had to either bump the starter making the lift pump run, or loosen the cap a bit to get anything to come out of the drain.

Oh, yeah,...that thingy on the side of the filter canister that I drained once per the owner's manual instructions about 5 years ago.........

I haven't seen any water in my canister when I've changed my filter in 75,000 miles.
I don't even mess with mine.
I always try to use the same two fuel stations.
I've had excellent results so far.

Oh, forgot to mention, I stopped trying to get any water to come out after the 2nd attempt, a month after I got the truck.

I only use it now to drain the cannister once every 10,000 miles when I change the fuel filter.

I always drain into a jar to check for water, and have yet to see a single droplet.

I feel alot less guilty now about only doing every 75,000 miles or so.

I can crack mine and run fuel all over the place with out the pump, but I've never seen a drop of water. I always assumed it was just there as a formality. Fuel and water will seperate, but not in the amount of time that it's in that canister. If there is water in the fuel it's going through your engine with the fuel.

I've never really seen any water in the can after pulling the filter. Looking hard.

I think is was made for the farmer that has tanks on the property that might have old watery fuel -or- it you use canned fuel that been around abit.

I normally keep one 5 gallon jug of fuel and change it one a month to freshen the fuel. The just in case fund.
