Fuel supply problems.

My truck is running out of fuel when the gauge reads just below 1/2 tank, so should I replace the sending unit or put in a draw straw?

So, the question is, is there a draw problem or is the fuel level sending unit bad? These trucks are well known to have fuel level sending unit issues. If you fill it to the top after you run it until it quits, how much fuel can you get in the tank?

There are people who have had fuel gauge sender problems. Not sure how common the problem is but I do understand that bio fuel can affect the sending unit. Unless you have plans of huge HP I'd just replace the sending unit.

If you have the "in tank" lift pump. The screen on the bottom of the module may be clogged up. If that happens, fuel has to come over the top of the pump sump which sits maybe 3" up from the bottom.
