fuel pump

hoping someone can prove me wrong. The fuel pump on my truck runs fine but when you take the fuel line off and put your finger over the inlet hole there seems to be no suction. Could the shaft on the impeller be broke? Should I just get a new fuel pump? If I could just get fuel to the engine everything else is working fine now a few sensors later. would appreciate any help I can get.

Very common problem, fuel pumps like to do that at the most inconvinent time. Cavitation seems to be the #1 killer of lift pumps.

Deffinately get a new fuel pump, and hope it didn't hurt the injection pump.

And I highly recomend a fuel pressure gauge.
