Fuel Pressure Regulator with OE Carter Pump
I am going to install a pressure regulator to keep the pressure at the VP at a constant 11psi. This is to try and avoid lift pump failure since it is the internal pressure regulator on my lift pumps that seem to be failing. Since this internal regulator is set for 17psi this regulator will never open if I keep the output pressure at 11psi. What do you think of this idea and has someone already tried this?

Unless your set up is different than pickups you will lose pressure going thru the filter so it will always be less than 11 psi.
Just guessing but I don't think the campaign pump needs regulated since it is only a 12-14 psi pump OR is it a 14-16 psi pump.

There will be a pressure drop scross the filter but with a clean filter the drop will be less than a lb, that is why I neglected it. The whole point to the external regulator is to make sure that the internal regulator is never activated, the Campaign pump can use a regulator just as much as the OE. BTW I get 17psi post-filter with the Campaign pump, the exact same pressure I was getting with the OE pump, so I think the pressures are the same with the Campaign pump and the OE pump.
