Fuel MPG Drop

I have an 01 4x4 quadcab long box. I have not change anyting in a while and my mpg has dropped on the last three tanks from 20-22 on the hwy and 17-19 in town to 15 in town and 17-18 on the hwy. I have had no power loss nor any changes in my driving habbits in the last few months. I do regular mantanice oil, clean my filter ect...I have run injector cleaner through it with no change does anyone have any sugguestion?

May be due to winter fuel blend. IIRC you generally lose approx 10% when they switch to winter fuel blend.

I am down in southern Cal do they change the blend? If they do what would you suggest to counter the change?

You could check your intake air sensor, that will cause an issue, but most likely winter fuel...

I will check the sensor. This is only my second winter with it and last year at this time I had just put on my edge and the injectors so my mpg was sparattic. New toys.

If it's been a while, you might want to change your fuel filter. A clogged filter might cause a drop in mpg.

How old is your injection pump, lots of miles on it. If so joint the club its coming to the end of its life bad mileage is a sign of poor pump

I'll vote for fuel grade change, happens every winter, mileage goes down, I lose 100kms or so to a tank compared to summer fuel

My fuel filter is new I installed an Airdog II 2 months ago. Also when the injection pump is going out don't you have a power loss?

I agree with the IAT Sensor. I don't know what 40 hp Edge Jammers are. If they are injectors, you may also have a conflict with the Edge Juice/Attitude
programing with larger injectors than stock. I looked on Edges web site and could not find anything that was Jammer except a intake air duct system.

It was necessary to clean the IAT Sensor every 10,000 miles if I did alot of towing and using the exhaust brake. Here is a couple pictures of the IAT, not mine.

Also forgot to mention, check your LP fuel pressure.

I dont believe there is such a thing as conflict between edge Juice with attitude programming and larger injectors, I have 80hp jammers (injectors) and there is no conflict unless you consider more power a conflict.... (LOL)

I will check my intake air temp sensor. Edge Jammers are injectors (they quit making them last year, not enough sales). I have had them with my Edge for almost a year now. My LP pressure never drops below 15psi and no higher than 20psi. Got to love that Airdog. I have come to believe that it is the winter fuel that is the problem. But please keep your ideas coming. I have driven almost 60k and have never cleaned the sensor so it gives me things to fix before they fail.

I considered installing some 275hp RV injectors in my 2000 3500. At the time I was running a HyperPack Programer/Monitor. I called Hypertech and they said do not install the injectors and run the HyperPack as it would not work properly, hence my comments.

I would check with Edge. Most programers are designed to operate with the stock systems and not modified ones.

When I bought my Attidude and my jammers at the same time. Edge told me there would be no issues and I have not had any in the year that I have had them installed.
