fuel leak & hard to start
fuel leak & hard to start
have 2001 that both the lift pump and vp44 have been replaced on. there is a fuel leak someplace on the back of the engine and it drips off of the bottom of the bell housing. also, if the truck sits for anything more than a few minutes, have to bump the starter and let the lift pump pressurize the system before it will start. looking for any ideas before taking it to the dealers in this area. they are not too diesel savy
My first inclination is to trace the return fuel line back to the tank. The rubber hose may have rubbed on something, creating a small rupture in the line. If it leaks as quickly as you say, clean off the line and have someone turn the key on while you are underneath (don't start it) and see iff you see the source. Of course wear some goggles to protect yourself should ya ge squirted in your good eye....
Good luck!!
