Fuel Filter Micron Rating

Does anyone know, or point me to a resource, that lists the micron rating for the stock fuel filter for a 99? I am thinking about switching the fuel filter base for one off a road-tractor and want to ensure I am replacing with a comparable, if not better, filter. The base I have has a Baldwin BF957 spin on (1-14 threads) filter on it, but I am wanting to go to one with a drain. Thanks.

http://www.wixfilters.com/ punch in # and they will cross it and usually give u the specs, i know the stock filter is 2 micron and should be startopore material. i only use fleetgaurd or wix.

An old thread but was looking into filter changes also. I use the same Baldwin bf957 as a prefilter spin-on. I found the following as alternates but don't seem to filter as well.
BF957 10micron
Wix 33109 10micron
Fram P3528a 22micron

Factory filter replacement
Wix 33349 2micron
Fram CS8323 10micron

Interseting, I just did a filter change and drained the fuel completely out of the canister, relatively clean on bottom, but I noticed a pretty good amount of fine crud thru the oval openings in the inlet ring. I got a good bit of it out with a q-tip.

Maybe been building in there over the years, it's on the other side of the filter from the vp so not worried and I've seen a similar kind of stuff in the prefilter back at the FASS but only a few bits each time...

will your filter system up grade leave you with a "Water In Fuel" indicator sensor.

I up-graded to an Air Dog, and the only thing I really miss is that sensor working.

If you want to retain the WIF sensor and the fuel heater, and not have to worry about those lines dangling under the hood, then dont eliminate the OEM fuel filter housing but rather install a secondary filter system.

Even some who install a FASS or Airdog have been known to keep the fuel filter housing in place and either run that filter too or run it with the housing empty.

That would be my preference, unfortunately, when my truck went to the shop with fuel problems that turned out to be lots of water in the fuel. They dropped the tank and cleaned it out, then found rust in the steel lines that run from the filter/water separator and corrosion in the housing. We had to scrap all of it so I opted for an Air Dog system.

I want to find a good clean factory filter assy with all the lines and connectors, I'll put it after the Air Dog and get my WIF back.
