fuel filter
I will probably get put down from someone with engineering experience but this I know. If you have a gage on the output of the filter or before the VP44, you can tell when it starts to drop. With a known restriction, pressure will indicate volume. When the volume starts to go down the pressure will drop so long as the restriction that the VP causes is the same. You drive the truck all the time, and know the normal pressure. When you see a drop in pressure you know the volume is dropping, change the filter. I watch it constantly, and burn used oil at a gallon to a tank. I am going to try the 2 micron Baldwin filters just to see what it does to it. I carry a spare filter and with the tank low, it is a few seconds to change the FASS filter, bump the key and start it up. With the FASS, and a direct feed, make sure the fuel level is lower than the pump or you will have a mess.
So far as the used oil, it amounts to about 2 gallons in 6000 miles. I might also add that when putting the bottom feed in the tank I was amazed at how clean the tank was. Not a trace of residue of any kind. And that was with over 250,000 miles on it.

I have never changed my fuel filter.98,000 miles.Still running strong.I have only used Amoco/BP,Thats just the card i have no preference really.I guess i will change it after reading all the talk.

That's a bit hard to swallow.
You do realize the filter we're talking about is also known as the water seperator?
