Fuel Filter
Fuel Filter
I have replaced my fuel filter 6 times. 2 of the 6 times the truck would not start. I alternated between cranking on the starter and "bumping" the starter. The truck eventially started.
What procedure should be followed so that the truck starts every time after a fuel filter install? Should I have a supply of diesel fuel on hand to top off the filter canister? Maybe it didnt start because I had allowed air in the fuel line.

I take it you do not have a fual P. guage??...this is a bad lift pump in my exp.-----mine did the same thing, had to crack the inj. and all that till I figured out the lift pump had no preasure!!
It had only happened a couple of times after changing the fuel filter. I have no other problems with the truck that I know of. You think I might have the beginnings of a bad lift pump?

tim look at this lp test its easy to do to see if you have a pump that is working at all.
pull the line to the injector pump off (either end of #5) then put a container under it incase the pump works it should pump out 1.43 liters when you bump the starter if it doesn't you are in need of a pump. hope this helps
