fuel banjo bolt and question
fuel banjo bolt and question
I will be putting my airdog on next week and i'm going to hook my FP gauge up at that time. I ordered the banjo bolt from diesel manor and it goes on the IP right? I plan to run fuel straight to the gauge so i will have a cutoff valve or something in the line so i can shut it off if it leaks or something. What i really need to know is that i hear of people running some sort of valve or something to stop the "pulsing" gauge...what is this and what do i need for a good reliable install?? (kinda long haha sorry
) thanks!

I bought an isolator from Diesel Manor with my gauges.
We used a T in fuel line. Banjo bolt screws into T, Flex
line from T to bottom of isolator, from top of isolator into
cab plastic line to gauge, filled with antifreeze. I didn't
want fuel in cab in case of a leak. I bought every thing
from Diesel Manor.

ya i have one that came with my kit form diesel manor but i dont really want to use it.....i want something that will last a long time and i dont have to worry about whether the isolator is bad and causing funky readings or something like that. i will put a cutoff in the line in case it leaks. just wondering about some needle valve or something that stops the gauge from pulsating and if the banjo bolt goes in the vp or somewhere else?
do you know if i can put the banjo bolt in the vp? i kinda want mine after the filter...also do you know what kind of needle valve or whatever they put to stop gauge pulsating?...thanks!

A simple needle valve from the hardware store can be used to serve as a fuel shutoff and as a snubber.
I prefer to use a line with a dedicated snubber, but there are several ways to get from here to there.

I've had my isolator for about a year. It is mounted on top of the relay box on top of the left fender well. The hardest thing to do is filling the small line going to the guage. I use a 5cc syringe (free at most pharmacies) and fill with red antifreeze (so I can see it) from the guage end up to the isolator. It helps to have someone else available to hold their finger over the end near the guage. Think, drinking straw. Don't forget to fill the isolator with the antifreeze (guage side) before attaching the line. I had to refill my line twice before I got all the air out.
I put mine on the output side of my stock fuel filter. No pulsing at all. I used a small valve to shut it off in case of emergency (it's a SW mechanical gauge) I put the small supplied nylon tube inside of surgical tube so there would be no chaffing. I mounted the gauge under the ashtray and to the right just a bit.
No leaks no problems.
I don't see how it could make a difference if you put it on the input of the VP44 or the output of the filter.
