Some folks swear by 2 stroke oil, make sure its non ash formula. There are some commercially available addtives, Im sure someone will chime in. Ive been using marvel mystery oil. So far I cant really tell, but I have a new Lp and VP so time will tell.

Amsoil additives.

Tapped pump with an Edge Juice, a heavy foot, and an original VP44 at 130K that has no signs of hating life.

They can't hurt, from a lubricity point of view, especially with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel coming! But unfortunately, as better info comes out as to reasons for VP-44 failures, I don't think fuel treatments make a difference.
I use them, but not for that reason.

I think most people, including many 18 wheelers, use Power Service-Silver(White in Cold weather). This is suppose to lube evrything & increase mileage, claen injectors, help your love life and make you better looking. Some people also add the 2 stoke oil, but seems redundant. Many of the fuel additives have similar claims. The Power Service can be bought at wally World for a reasonable price.

I'm personally using 2-Cycle Oil. I seem to have better response to the 2-cycle oil than from anything else. Lubes both pumps (VP44 and LP) and quiets down the diesel knock. At least 2-cycle oil with burn off completely compared to WMO.
