Front and Rear Diffs.

Hey guys n gals in the am I am goin to change out my front n rear diff fluids as I have a small weep on the front and the back is just started so not having the lsd can I use 80-90 in the diffs? I just wondering i tow a horse trailer and heavy often but not alot mostly the three horse trailer with one or two horses.

I run mobil 1 in both ends. I think it's 75w-90 and it runs great.

why change? i have 165,000 on mine (i don't haul horses but a fiver is pretty heavy) i do not even check it! it must be ok

Iam changing due to this fact that the covers are starting to weep and I have been on a mission in the last week to kill any leaks and these two little ones are the last on my todo list and i have the gear oil in the shop but wanted to make srue i had the right stuff.

You can't be serious. Oil breaks down and doesn't last forever, thats what it does. Why stop there? Why change the engine oil? Changing the gear oil in the rear end of a truck that pulls heavy all the time (like a 5ver) can make the difference between the differential lasting 175K and 350K with an oil change.

Amsoil is the best IMHO, I would run 75-90 up front and 75-140 in the rear. Dodge reccommends 90W in the rear if you don't tow heavy and 140 if you do.

Redline and Royal purple is also great stuff, Mobile 1 is next down the line, and junk like Lucas fits somewhere down with standard gear oil IMHO.

Ya I think Iam goin to invest in the amsoil today I just went down an started to pull the covers off and found three bolts barely on so i tightend them down and stop there we will see if they stop weeping but next payday iam goin to find me some amsoil and change them out

Go to www.Amsoil.com and look up your local dealer, they will be able to drop ship is strait to your door.
