On my 01 I actually took the time to take the radiator out to flush the system. It wasn't that hard, I left the fan and clutch in place, just took the upper radiator hose out then unbolted the shroud and moved it out of the way while I pulled out the radiator. Then I removed the thermostat housing and disconnected one heater hose. To flush the system, I used a garden hose to flush out every opening: lower radiator hose, thermostat opening, heater hose, until clean water came out. Then I flushed it with some clean coolant to get all the tap water out. While the radiator was out I power cleaned the outside of it to get all the oily gunk from the puke bottle. Then a new 180 thermostat and new coolant. Runs cool as a cucumber now.

ok, so what if i just wanna do it without removing the radiator. is there a petcock i can open or something. i figured i'd just drain the coolant, fill with water, drain again, fill with coolant.
if there's a problem with this procedure, let me know and talk me out of it.

wow, well I certainly would not tear the whole radiator out of the truck for this but thats my preference, whatever works.

Here is a step by step guide to coolant changes

that's what i thought, not unless you're taking it to a shop and having the radiator flushed too.

and hey, where'd you find that i could not find it
