Has your lid been replaced? Or maybe it was modified to make the other filter fit? If it fits in the canister correctly, you could get a replacement lid.

 

Ok.........I found the problem last night. It seems the top from the existing element somehow became detatched and got stuck up inside the filter head. So, when I would pull the canister off I was looking at a element that didn't look at all like a 19598 and of course the 19598 would not fit into the head because the lid from the existing element was still stuck up inside it! Anyway, I pulled the old lid out and the 19598 fits great and all is well.............man do I feel stupid! Oh well, live and learn.
