Flash Question
Hopefully some one can answer. I bought my truck used as far as I can see there are no fueling mods (I have looked for a box or something all over the place). There is obviosly something done to it becuase it will dump black smoke until the turbo spools and even then it still smokes some, the truck moves, I've left 15 foot long posi's before no problem. I don't know what is modded but original owner did work for Chrystler. Is there diferent horsepower flashes available from cummins that can be installed for different power ranges and applications? Maybe he got a hold of something one of these or possibly a plug in tuner. I don't know. My real question is that I want to reflash so I can have the high Idle update, but I don't want to lose all of my power. The dealer ship told me that flashing the new map in would not affect my power, but he also thinks that 24 valves are mechanical injection not electronic
. I don't beleive him. What do you guys think.

Build yourself a high idle club...or buy Geno's fancier, but not to expensive model. I would stay away from the re-flash! Give us your location...maybe someone can look it over & tell you if you have any bombs! From air in & air out description...sound like it has something...maybe injectors?...or mad Catcher ECM?
No to optional flashes...only updated later versions.

I agree with rjohnson. Somebody has done something to that truck. It likely has aftermarket injectors, or somebody has replaced or flashed the ECM. I think if Chrysler flashes it, you may lose the performance programming.
