fixing frontend problems

my dad has an 01 3500 4x4 5spd with almost 90k on the ticker. truck has been driving squirly for a while. it kinda wonders when going do the interstate. and its starting to take tolls on the front tires. what is everyones recomended fix? hear stuff about track bar replacements and stuff but this is mostly greek to me. know bout the ball joints and tie rod ends but hope someone could explain a little further. wondered if some company makes a kit to rebuild or just go to orilley or napa? also the back rotor are getting close to needing replaceed, do you have to remove the axle to replace them? is so does it have c-clips like a chevy or just unbolt the bolts and slide it out? thanks

Sounds like the Track Bar. If it is going out the truck will wonder all over the road. It is the large steel bar that is tied into the frame in the front on one end just under the engine. The other end is bolted to the front end. My rec. is to buy from the dealer or from KORE Off Road. To many friends have bad parts from NAPA. Good Luck

I have a 1996 2500 4x4 that is also wondering a bit. I have found that a wheel alignment corrects the problem, however the problem does return. Any suggestion on a "permanent fix"?

I would also like to know if anyone has an idea about the eratic steering on my 1999 2500 4x4. I have trouble keeping it between the lines @ 70 mph! Is it the "track" bar or what? I am going to get pulled over for drunk driving if I don't fix it soon. But I just bought the truck 3 days ago and don't know much about 2nd gen's. ANY HELP WILL BE APRECIATED! THANKS in advanced.

I added these to my truck about 4 years ago and they really helped:

It still steers a little vague, but it does not wander any more. I am thinking, hoping, that the vagueness has been due to the cheap Cooper tires that I run.
