Use the Fleetgaurd filters...
Moss/Magnusson act (pretty sure that is the one) states that an aftermarket part cannot void the warranty unless it contributes to the failure. If you lift the truck 8" and start breaking driveshaft u joints, they can void the warranty, if the radio acts up, they can't, the lift and tires had an effect on the drivline angle, but not the radio.

It will not viod the warranty but there have been reports that the internal parts of the filter will come apart under the heat. These parts are made of silicone and when they come apart they get into the oil stream plugging up the oil gallies. We had one that it happened to but that was a few years back. Chrysler never specificaly said Fram but did put out a list of recommended filters to use and they were not on it. I think that legally anyone telling you one specific filter by brand name would be subject to repurcussions from that brand. Stick with a known good filter for diesels as stated above including that factory filters and you will be jsut fine.

On my round-the-continent trip in '03, I had the oil in my '02 changed at a truck and tractor shop in Melfort, Saskatchewan, and they installed a Fram filter. OK, I didn't know any better, so a few thousand miles farther along, I had the oil changed again at a dealership in South Carolina. After I'd paid, the service manager caught me off to one side privately, and quietly told me that if the engine broke and they found a Fram filter on it, the warranty would be void. True ?? I dunno, but I'm not taking a chance. Forewarned is forearmed, and I'll use no more Frams.

Stick with Fleetguard, as fram filtering material is suspect, and can break away, which in turn can plug up piston oil cooling jets. A few guys on this board have had to replace the engine because of it. Don't take a chance.
