Driving on a 3 hour road trip tonight, think I had my first dead peddle. Coming into a small town on a 2 lane, hit the cruise off button from 55 and there it was. No peddle. Hit the peddle 2-3 times, on the second time I got peddle about half way down and on the 3 it came right away. CEL came on and stayed on the rest of the way. Fuel Pressure never dropped below 10 psi, and is usually around 12 psi while driving. I did just fill up with fuel, but I dont think that had anything to do with it. After this little blurp, worked flawlessly the rest of the way home, about an hour. Had great throttle response and no extra smoke that I could see.

My cruise has always been weird on this truck, working good one time, and gaining speed rapidly the next. I will try to get the codes looked at tomorrow. Does the key trick work on 1999 models, i tried it once when I first bought it but didnt seem to work. Not sure I knew what I was doing either, but....

I have this sick feeling right now that I might have an IP problem, but am not sure. Anyone got any opinions? Possibly a TPS? IP looks original and truck has an honest 190k on it so I guess thats a good run, right ? Thanks,

 

Update:

Went to the local dealer this morning. It is the TPS as I had assumed. Didnt charge me to check the code though, so i guess thats good. They want about $540 to replace, but didnt have one in stock.

Anywhere else to get one of these cheaper??

 

If you can find a CUmmins Dealer they are usually quite cheaper, maybe half. Ebay is also a source, some nice deals on them there.
