How do you all find codes with that key trick

turn the key on, off, on, off and back to the on position. the codes will show in the odometer window. i don't remember what year this started, but someone will chime in (99 may be too early...)

I got it to do it on the 2001 that i drive at work and i did the same to mine and no codes popped up on mine

I think it only works on 01-02.
