Question A few questions

Hey ya'll, I have a few questions.

1. On the stock airbox is the Filter Minder guage thingy. Tells me when to change the filter. Should I put much faith in it? Doesn't look to be too reliable.

2. While I am waiting for the WAIT TO START light to go out in the morning I notice my oil pressure guage swings up to about 20 psi just before the WAIT TO START light turns off. Assuming the guage isn't telling me a lie, how does the engine get oil pressure before it starts running?

Any information would be appreciated.

I would forget the filter minder, and, correct me if I'm wrong guys, but your engine can't generate oil pressure unless there are rpms.

On a Stock truck, the filter minder lets you know if the truck is getting enough air. No need to over service the filter. Everytime you open up the air filter box, you will get some dirt in the clean side of air intake. Just check the air filter minder, replace as needed. Some trucks go 10,000 miles, others 60,000 miles. Turn up the power on your truck, and all bets are out the window.

Oil Pressure? Your gauge is lying to you. It has to do with how your ECM is programmed.

OK, I am not going to rely on the filter minder then. 60,000 miles on a filter is a little too much for my tastes.

The oil pressure thing has me puzzled. I know the oil pupm is engine driven. The guage reads correct when the engine is running. BUt right before the WAIT TO Start light goes out, the needle swings up in between 0 and 40 (about 20 psi I think) and will stay there until I crank the engine over. I am confused as to why it does this.

Mine did the oil pressure thing too. I replaced the sending unit and it stopped.
