Fault codes

My truck started showing two fault codes and I was wondering if you guys could help me. The first code is P1693 and all I can find is that it's a companion code for something.

The second is P0500 and according to the tech facts:
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor 1 Circuit, or No Vehicle Speed Reference Signal 1
does anyone know what this affects because it has had power problems for about a year now.

To be honest I'm pretty fed up with the truck. I've had nothing but problems with it and as soon as I get one thing fixed something else falls apart. I've had it to several mechanics including three different dodge dealerships and no one can find the problem. It has zero power and gets between 12 and 13 mpg on the highway fuel pressure Idling is between 13-14 psi crusing 10-11 psi and pulling or under heavy acceleration is 6-8 psi. The dealership swears its not the injector or lift pumps. I just changed the fuel filter last week so that is not the problem. sorry about the long post I really need to get this figured out.
thanks,
Dave

Just a suggestion regarding the power; you may want to try cleaning/replacing the MAP and IAT sensors. They are located on the driver's side of the block, to the rear. The MAP is the first sensor past the fuel filter canister and the IAT is all the way back, almost on the corner of the block. Hope this helps!

Thanks Piperca,

I'll check the sensors as soon as I get out of class today. So with the speed sensor I need to take it in and have someone diagnose it?
Thanks,
Dave

Ive gotten the P0500 from spinning the rear tire. In most cases it will go away after a certain number of starts or if you pull the battery cables with the ignition on.

Talking Found Cure for the Truck

Actually I solved all my problems with this truck on monday with a quick trip to my friendly neighborhood dodge dealership. I traded the truck on an 05 short box. I want to say thanks for all the information and suggestions. The truck was a lemon from the get go and I think I'll be much happier.
