It does have a distinguishing noise that's for sure. But your VP will be happy!

Yes, it makes some noise. But once you start the engine, you won't be able to hear the FASS. You'll only hear it go
BZZZT briefly while you are waiting for the Wait-to-start
light to go out.

My FASS has been on the truck ~30k, zero problems with the VP so far and 16psi at idle, 10psi at WOT. You can't hear it in the cab, but you can hear it in the bed... but who cares about that.

In this vid you can hear how loud it is

Still, you VP will love you.

I went with the Walbro... quietest pump I've ever not heard. No noise even when you bump the key. Works rock solid for over 16 months now.

As far as the 4" exhaust, no, you won't notice any seat-of-the-pants gains. I didn't. Just a better sound and the turbo whistle... which is really cool... even at idle.

The noise is a comfort
it says you got pressure!

The 4" exhaust will keep the EGT's down at WOT or when towing heavy.

You a MOW worker?
I own/run a Fairmont MT-19...
although you are probably in a HiRail pickup truck.

They seemed to have quietened the pumps down a lot. I have to really listen hard to hear my pump if I bump the starter. I could hear my stock pump plain as day but that may be because the stock was closer to the cab but overall I'd say the pumps at the very least are as quite as the stock pumps. And they now have a lifetime warranty for any pump made in 08!

Ditto! Mine has been running 4 yrs and well over 100,000 miles. No problems at all! Every 50,000 miles (they will go farther) I change the filter and clean the H2O Separator! Maybe 1/2 hr job!!
Like said above.... hearing the FASS (between bed & cab) is a comfort. I resisted putting in the quieter 'base plate', new in 06?, because I like to hear how smoothly it is running. Can't hear it when driving.

You guys are funny... I thought it was comforting to watch the fuel pressure gauge show good pressure, not the noise of the pump. I like the ultra quiet walbro and it is rock steady on my setup as well. My gauge is what gives me the comfort and it's quiet too.

Did you have something to contribute to this thread and it's questions about a FASS?

wyomingkid:

I have had my FASS 180 on my 96' Dodge CTD 12 valve for two years now. Very good pump, holds excellent pressure and FASS has made modifications to the pumps to make them much quieter. Also, their main Technician at FASS who goes by "Diesel Dan" here is on these forums all the time and IMHO does an excellent job of helping their customers out with any problems anyone has. Also, the FASS pumps now come with a Lifetime Warranty.

As far as the 4 inch exhaust, on my trucks I have seen NO gain in H.P. at all. It did help some with the EGTS though.
