exhaust rubber mounts

how do i get the exhaust hangers off the rubber mounts? there is a barb on the end of the hanger and i have no idea how i can get the hangers back out.

I squirt a little WD-40 on the hanger then pull on the hanger while pushing on the rubber at the same time. Sometimes a long pry bar will help also.

The lubricant makes a big difference.
