The p/n for the old style is Cummins 3937171. This one IS NOT the on/off type, but the one WITH constant flow.

I have come in the conversation quite late and I can back up the memo from Dodge. I have a 96 Dodge 2500 12 valve and have changed my T stat in the past and no concerns. Now with the new Tstat my temp fluctuates quite a bit. I do not believe Dodge saying it is not a problem / concern.. When I went to school years ago temp fluctuations are not good. It will cause extra stress on the headgaskets and lead to leaks.

A small drill bit and the "new" type tstat is now an "old" type tstat.
