How do you know if it is a bad clutch fan. Mine is loud for a while when taking off and then quiets down, but running the AC the other day and it was lasting much longer before it got quiet. Could this be a bad clutch fan? Is there an easy way to check it?

thats just your fan clutch kicking in because of the hotter temps. Perfectly normal unless it doesn't go away in cooler weather. Mine does it in the summer all the time. it does it more when your AC kicks in because the AC creates heat under the hood.

They call that a turbocharger.

If it roars all the time hot or cold then the clutch is bad.

But if it gets quiet again then it's cycling normally.

it must be the hot weather not use to these kind of temps up here, it does stop after a while.

Mine does it in hot and cold weather, but it stops after a short while. It stays on longer when the AC is on but will finally turn off, but when you stop it does it again. I guess it could have been from the heat, it was in the high 80s-90s last week when I was using the AC. So it sounds like some roar is normal, right?

I'd say it's pretty much normal.

After the "lights dimming after a cold start", it's gotta be one of the more popular "newbie" questions.
