Engine miss
I have a 98 1/2 24 valve ( no mods )that has a problem.
On occasion it will develop a miss. The check engine light never came on and no codes were ever present until today. And the Fuel pressure was good.
The truck started running real rough and the following codes appeared. P0122, P1693,P1689. I cleared the codes and drove the truck and it ran great until the miss re-developed and this time only code P0122 showed up ( Throttle position sensor ) The truck starts ,runs and drives and the problem is intermittent. Does this sound like a wiring issue or VP44?

sounds like vp44 failure I had all these codes after vp44 quit. mine had issues awhile but when it finally quits its dead on road.. I was lucky died not to far from house..1693 is companion code, but the 1689 is the trouble and usually means dying or dead vp44.
Engine miss
So whats the best way to go about buying a VP44? Is there a high performance injector pump. Should I go with a new set of injectors? Best LP for the money? I do alot of trailer pulling. Any help would be appreciated.
industrial injection makes a hotrod vp. I went to a local rebuilder and paid 1075.00 out the door.he was a authorized bosch rebuilder..I would invest in a fass so no more lift pump issues as well.. I pull a few trailers as well primarily goosenecks with hay or equipment normally in the 14k to 16k range.my next investment will be bosch 300 injectors I think..but I have enough power to make all the grades here now and when I replaces vp44 I was amazed at how much better it ran.
don't buy a hot rod vp44, they are junk. they just turn up the settings with stock parts, that'll wear out way faster than you want. also they claim all kinds of horsepower gains, buy you don't get as much as they say. check out blue chip diesel, those guys know their stuff.
