Engine Mis-Firing ??

Over the last few months I've complained several times about high EGT's, excess smoke, and poor mileage lately. I've done what you guys suggested with no joy.

Today I was returning to Santa Fe from a conference in Vail, CO, and a couple of times while going up a steep grade at full power I noticed a jolting and a strange sound. Noticed it when bringing my new trailer home from AlbuQuirky last weekend, too. Other times it's not there. Listening to it on the final grade into S.F. today, it dawned on me that the engine was missing slightly at full power. Not like when you have a bad plug or wire on a gas engine, but more like maybe an injector isn't quite giving its' all, or maybe too much. I dunno.

Have any of you seen or heard of such a thing ?? What could cause it ?? I don't think I'm going to like the answers, but go ahead with opinions. Thanks

Lar.

possibly a fuel shortage maybe a dead lift pump. shortage of fuel when put under demand the engine will not get fuel needed and like cut in and out. also fuel filter dirty same things just happened to my mega cab. those are all i could think of maybe check the sensors in the intake manifold clean them all wire up a test switch on fuel pump to see if its dead.it sounds like your running out of fuel.
