Engine just hesitates BAD!

Ok, so my truck is doing this really lame thing where I punch the throttle and it doesn't do a thing! The boost gauge reads about 3lbs, and the RPM's don't climb at all! This is if i am coasting along and then punch it. Then, all of a sudden, after about 5 seconds, BAM!, it kicks in hard and the boost jumps to 20-30lbs and the RPM's roar into life.
What the heck is wrong with this thing?

I have a funny feeling that your going to need to reset your APPS and maybe replace... This is a guest from what I've learned from others...

Was there any codes from the computer?

How much fuel pressure do you have?

Hopefully I am wrong here but aside from the apps that is also a classic sign of the vp44 saying seeeeeyaaaa. Check for codes and hopefully the 0216 (injector pump timing failure) isn't one of them. On mine with that symptom it showed the 0216 and it got progressively worse and would do it more often and take longer to clear up. Turned out ot be the vp44.

Uh oh, that's what i was worried about. I actually have set the dreaded 0216 code before, the check engine light went off aftre a week or so, came back on the other day and here we go with this now!

I knew it was on it's way. I am getting a FASS put in it next week, will that help the VP44 to live a little longer or is it just done?

The Comp Box is on. Level 2.

I don't know what the pressure was though cause I haven't put in the fuel pressure gauge that I just bought in yet.

I doubt the fass will help the vp44 if that is the problem. I have heard that a bad fuel pump will also cause the code. At least the dealer will check the pump before replacing the vp (for what that is worth and now they only check for flow not pressure). So if it is your fuel pump that is bad the fass will fix that for sure. However if it is the vp44 the fass will not help this one. Would surely help the new vp live happier though since it keeps a good constant pressure. I drove mine around for quite awhile ( over a month and 2500 miles) before the vp got fixed. It just started doing it more frequently. It never did set off the mil light. I forget how many times it had recorded the code but it was way way more than I felt the problem.
