my truck apparently ran out of fuel on an 1/8 of tank the other day for the first time. I have taken it all the way down to empty with no problem before. What could be the problem.

 

Not sure what year your truck is, but this happened to me on my '02 when the fuel sender went south. It was about $75 to replace.

Fuel sender is dying.

I haven't seen a low fuel light in a while. Used to be that when I hit 1/8, I was almost out. Filled up at a quarter the other day and put in 33 gallons.

Better start keeping an eye on the trip odo until you get it replaced. That's what got me into trouble, forgot to reset and a partial fillup.
