Two questions<br>Question #1 When I use my Dodge 25oo c/c to pull my fifth wheel I have the trans serviced every15 thou. The fluid is like new it smells nice and is clean looking the dealer charges $150 and nags me to spend annother $100 to have the oil sucked out of the torque converter with this special machine. I have always refused ( twice) should I have it done ?<br>Question #2 While I am in Hawaii 8 months of the year my daughter uses the truck in California as a pasenger vehicle. Before I leave I have the vehicle serviced then switch over from the heavy duty ( 3.000 mile oil and filter change) to the light duty maintaince schedule ( oil and filter at 7,500 ) is this a proper thing to do? Well lets see,

Dunno if you want to do the service or not but if you do, just loosen the 9 bolts on the valve body and the TC will drain. No need to pay 250$ for a tranny fluid change, IMHO. 20 qts of synthetic tranny fluid, will set you back about 100$ and you'll have some to spare even whith draining the TC and all. 15000 is a good average for dyno fluid, synthetics can go well over 30 000, might want to consider it.

Remember that short trips are worst for the Cummins than pulling loads on long trips. So if your daughter use it as a daily driver, I would stick to the 3000 miles change. I change mine every 5000 miles, pulling or not. Every oil analysis I've ever done tells me it's over kill. Take it FWIW.
