Anyone know if the Dodge/Chrysler sealant for the Dana 80 and Dana 60 is light gray? I'm gonna change my dif fluids this weekend and am wondering if its ever been done as I bought the truck w/ 54K miles and its now at 61K. Also, I'm leaning towards Royal Purple w/ the friction modifier for the rear. Can I use this in the front axle? Thanks, Kurt

 

Yeah I guess you could call it gray or light gray.

The sealant doesnt really matter though. Most any high temp sealant from Permatex will work (ie orange, gray).

 

The factory was gray in color. The new correct sealant that is recommended is orange in color.

 

Thanks guys. My rig is showing light gray sealant and I think its from the original build as I can't find any records of diff service in the records I have. I'm thinking it may be the original fluids in there. My weekend just got planned! Thanks, Kurt
