What's your pressure with both pumps running?
Mike
Yeah, I disconnected the power wire for the intank and left the holley connected. Pressure started to go up then went down to zero.

With both pumps and 3/8 inch line from the top of the fuel tank to the fuel filter I was getting 20psi. I didn't want it that high so I shortened the spring in the holley. Now I'm about 18.

The pressure going up and then dropping off sounds like cavitation. The spring you shortened..is that part of an internal regulator? I wonder if that has something to do with this.
I don't know exactly what's going on but I would have bet (before your post) that most LP's mounted on the rail would pull fuel through the intake pump.

Hey Guys - Great comments but please remember that Vulcan sells two (2) different Draw Straws. When reading all the prior comments, I've got a little confused wondering which draw straw you were referring to.

Vulcan Draw Straw I basically fits inside the stock fuel module after some modification.

Vulcan Draw Straw II is a stand-alone unit that is used via a drilled hole in the top of the tank.

I have both and I'm about to install them in a week or two. I'll follow the instructions on the DS-1 as well as with the DS-2 install as a backup.

The DS-1 will be my primary line going to a Racor fuel filter and FASS fuel pump. The back up DS-2 will be used along with my Holley Blue fuel filter.

I (like most of you) am tired of the various problems with the Dodge lift pump and plan on curing the problem once and for all.

I'll first have to update my stock fuel module with the DS-1, drop the tank and install the DS-2 then the stock fuel module/DS-1.

I'll post some pics when I'm through.

How to install a draw straw: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98...tallation.html

I just ordered the 2 port, anodized aluminum one, from Glacier Diesel, to replace the original. I dropped the tank by myself after I siphoned the fuel out.
To the person that asked about the metal shavings in the tank. The tank is plastic and any shavings that do drop in the tank will be caught by the inline filter.

just curious, who has ever had the intank pump fail? it's the same pump the 03-07's use. have never changed 1 for failing, 1 have retro fitted hunderds of trucks 03 up for dead pumps. i run the intank and engine mounted pump's regulated to 15psi at w.o.t. plus the intank makes filter and fuel system bleeding flawless.
