Do you trust your truck???
I trust my baby because I check her out religiously once a week. I find anything wrongm I dig further. Will it end up costing me big bucks, probably like everything else pats are not cheap, but then again nothing worth while is. It takes me to and from work everday, it has been run a little harder than normal every so often, and I put about 15000 miles on it in six months, all that as mostly city driving. I hope she gives me another 200k before she goes belly up, until then I'll drive her like she was meant to be driven and grin wildly.
I trust mine. I replaced the lift pump with a fass, and I just ordered the dss stabilizer, and will get their bracket for the new trackbar for the front.
Mines a towrig, so I'm not too worried about any offroad prowness, or lack thereof.

I have had my truck for about two weeks now. I would drive it any place I could get into with it. Been on the beach, woods, logging roads. Was in the service for over 20 years used the same engines to go out always made it back to the dock most of the time when we went out the weather was not the greatest. Don"t worry be Happy!!!!!
The truck has never had a single problem until recently. Hard to start sometimes if its been off for over 15 minutes and is still warm. From what I've read, I think its the lift pump.(?)
It has a 53 block(not cracked) and with all the bashing on this block I'm getting kinda concerned now. Get's about 19mpg, not bad for full size 3/4 ton 4x4!
It is not perfect, but can't think of any other truck thats better.
If there was a choice between "I completely trust my 24vCTD" and "I question it sometimes", I would have choose that.

Without a Doubt I trust it. Its like any other vehicle, you have good and you have bad. I just drive my CTD or like any other vehicle that I've had. If its gonna break its gonna break. There aint nothin you can do about. If you worry about it breaking, its probably going too. If you maintain it, keep up on the vehicle it will last. I only say this because I know it from personal experience and I work at a dealership and I see it everyday with people abusing there vehicles and expecting it too last.

I bought a '99' four weeks ago.I wish I'd found this board before I bought,I would'nt have bought it.After reading all the problems I'II never trust it.Yea I crawled under the thing and there was the big 53 staring back at me.I'II never get out of it and not look under it waiting for the puddle of water to appear.
The bad part is this 1 ton has a dump bed on it and was going to be worked hard.
Thanks,

Its strange, I completly trust my truck and I have had problems with it since I got it. Thing is even though I have had troubles, its still running strong. Vacuum pump and PSP crapped out on me, but it still drives. Air in the fuel lines, but its running just as strong now as it was. I guess it has to do partially with me being confident that I cant fix most things...
For what it's worth.
Mine is a 02 (bought in may02) and I have about 98K miles on it.
Yeah we do seems to drive alot.
Problems: Injection pump (vp44) died at about 95K miles. Ran badly
for a little while and coughed up a P0216 trouble code. About the
same time the LP died. LP take out the IP? Maybe but I actually
don't think so. All this was fixed under warenty at no cost to me
other than time.
At about 75K miles the AC evaporator was found to be leaking.
this one cost $850 to fix.
Stock Michelin tires died at about 55K miles. Replaced with Les Schwab
all terrain something or anothers. They are about toast at about 40K.
My vacuum pump has leaked oil since day one.
I always change the oil on time 3 to 4K miles and always with Delo 400 15w-40.
All filters are Fleetguard from Geno's Garage. I will on occasion use fuel additive (Lucas) and have cleaned the injectors 3 times with Chevron injector cleaner.
this summer I'm changing the PS fluid with synthetic, and the 6 speed fluid with
Redline or somehting like that.
thats it. so far so good though if I had to cough up dough for the LP/IP I'd
be singing a slightly different tune. Note that the rig has never failed to start or left me on
the side of some road. I have gauges (BD X-monitor)and watch the fuel pressure like
a hawk. THis new LP seems a bit weak to me so I think a FASS is in order soon.

I trust mine, faily completely. I bought the 7 yr 100k warranty, figured sometin on the AC will break in that time & pay the warranty investment. It seems the lift pump is the weak link,& from what evryone writes, get a FASS, suppose to be the last one that you will buy. Seems like some of the sensors will need to be cleaned or replaced from time to time. I don't consider any of those to be major issues. I use mine mostly for RVing, pull 14k fiver. Will not put many miles on it until I retire in a few years.
I only have 15k, but have only had to have the batterries replaced under warranty. It has had NO DEFECTS OR PROBLEMS. Do the maitenance, replaced the rear lube with 80w-140 Royal Purple, just put on some Bilsteins(better ride with heavy fiver, & without). Just added a K&N air filter(many on this site are not K&N fans).
I think once you get these problems fixed, it should be good. I have not read about any major suspension or tranny issues on these trucks. Its possible the previous owner may have contributed to some of your issues.
May want to to see what another year or two of warranty might cost, just as insurance.
Good luck, hope you do not need it!
