Do I need a snubber/needle valve?

To install my electronic fp gauge on my 02 2500 I plan on removing the schrader valve from the test port, screw on an 18" grease gun hose to the test port and attach the sending unit to the other end of the hose. Do I need to add the snubber/needle valve to the hose for this config? My gauge is a DiPricol Optix.

thanks,
-steve

I did the same thing you did. I did add a needle valve and my Westach sender has lasted almost 5 years.

I eventually removed the Shrader and put a fitting on the outlet of the filter that has a 1/4" NPT to run to a filter and the 1/2" NPT to run to the VP44. I added the shrader back in at the end of that short hose just for bleeding air out of the system. My gauge would be bouncy or slow to move with the air in it.

I think most guys recommend a snubber or needle valve to help protect senders.
