diff between '99 and '00 cummins??

i had to replace my motor out of my truck because of the 53 cast cracked block. i bought a 2000 cummins and put it in my truck. when i had my 99 in my pickup i got about 18 mpg and now my 00 i only get about 10-12max. is there any difference in the injectors or anything else that would effect that???

None that I can think of off hand. I think the 00 was rated at a slightly high HP.

Manuals were all rated at 235hp. Autos were 215, and bumped to 235 in either 00 or 01. Check the data plate on timing case and it will tell you your horsepower.

The engines should be the same. That said, the VP could be getting weak, which will degrade power and economy. Injectors could be getting weak and dirty, same thing. Does it feel as strong as the original engine?

The ecm's are different to accomodate different calibration of Gov Pres Transducer and temp sensor in tranny. Got caught on that one. The VP44 is same and believe cummins PCM is same(?). Manual equip would not be affected is my thought.

One thing I've always wondered, what did they do to change the power between the autos and manuals? Just something in the ECM?

the '00 motor was a auto before i put it in? if that means anything. i left all of the wiring in the truck, and I put the '99 turbo on it. they should be the same turbo but my '99 has a rubber hose going to the waste gate, that way i can block it off. the '00 had a steel line going to the waste gate
