Angry dead pedal= vp or tps?

hello all, my first post here but im no stranger to the cummins isb. my truck is a 98.5 with 169,000 miles and is on its 3rd lift pump and had a vp44 replaced at 94000 miles. btw, the vp44 was replaced by a dealer under warranty with a blue chip box still wired up. talk about luck. anyway, i get an intermittent dead pedal and the codes 1693 and 0216. from everything i read on here, the 0216 pretty much tells you the vp44 is dead but im wondering if it is the tps (or is it the apps?) since it is still stock. i am thinking if it is the vp then i might get a hot rod pump from industrial injection. any thoughts?

also, blue chip diesel has a pretty good read on their site about their 'special' vp44 that they offer for sale. apparantly, fedex had so many failures that they have pumps specially built for them. these pumps have an improved computer and a new housing instead of a rebuilt one, hence the higher cost.
any thoughts on this???
thanks

Sorry about your luck--I also have many dead pedals--changed everything including the apps --still have the dreaded dead pedal--I only have one code 00216---vp44 dead--I think thats the code. But anyway call Mid west injection--there cheaper and have the same thing as Blue Chip. the Fedex thing was long ago and there has been many updates since then so the whole fedex selling pt is not worth it.

Dead pedal

I to had dead pedal, and loping engine on first start up in the morning. Had new rebuilt injection pump put on today by a dodge dealer, and new fuel filter installed. 110,045 miles. Three hours labor, $1600.00 for pump, filter and tax, total bill $2145.00 Next it might be two new battery's and then maybe the tranny, I think maybe I should look for a new truck sometime. waam Holland, Mich.
