DDRP Trouble?
DDRP Trouble?
Fellas,
Installed a new DDRP, IP, and gauges back in the spring, and all was right with the world for my truck again. Week ago it started acting up: required much cranking to start like the system had lost prime. Now you have to bleed it to start it each time if the truck has set overnight.
DDRP is mounted on the frame next to the tank: pulled the outlet line that supplies the fuel bowl off this morning and it didn't have any fuel in it whatsoever.
Does the DDRP have a check valve of some some to prevent fuel from draining out of the supply line to the fuel filter bowl back into the fuel tank? If so, anyone heard of them going bad? I'm about to install a check valve in the fuel line and see if it solves the problem. Thanks for any inputs.

I don't think they have a check valve. I just installed mine, in the stock location, and if i bump the starter to get it to run for the 30 seconds, it pressurises the gauge, but when the pump turns off, the pressure drops pretty fast. If your pump picks fuel up right away from the tank, install a check valve right after the pump. the vp will run off the fuel it has, and the ddrp will catch up before the vp needs it. But i would as stated, to check for fuel line problems. If the pump doesn't prime, either contact FASS, or install the check valve before the pump. So far, i have no hard start issues with my DDRP, but it is in the stock location.
Turned out that the DDRP mount screws for the small mounting boss on top of the pump were coming loose. Caused the pump to vibrate around, which caused the 3/8'' rubber supply line coming from fuel tank to the DDRP to slightly work loose on the hard line coming out of the fuel tank (the line was stretched pretty tight). Tightened things up and went with some longer 3/8" rubber line and everything now working well again, even after setting overnight. Thanks for the replies.
