Question DDRP and an Edge EZ

I have a 2001.5 auto 4x4 that is stock except for a K&N and an Edge EZ. Is the FASS DDRP02 enough pump for this? I don't feel like the EZ gives me anymore HP than an HO version truck, does it? Also is the Vulcan relocation kit worthwhile? Does the FASS pump have enough harness/hose to work with the Vulcan relo kit? Will the big line kit make any difference with mods this mild?

Hunh! I can't believe I'm the only one with an EZ considering the FASS replacement pump. I was hoping someone in the real world would give their take on this before I call the manufacturers tomorrow.

I can't speak for the FASS except that the majority runs it, but as for an EZ, you don't need any more than what the Airtex that Vulcan carries delivers. Unless you're moving to bigger injectors, the FASS would be overkill. Vulcan wasn't carrying the Airtex when I switched mine over, and the only obstacle with the one from Oreilly's is it's a direct replacement which means it was designed to be used with the original banjo fittings. All I did was heat the end of some 3/8" line with a hairdryer and lubed it over the end, clamped it, and transitioned to the relocation kit's 3/8 adapter.

I haven't seen any lower than 12psi at WOT, cruise 70 mph at 15-16, and idle around 19psi. I did have a carter on the frame at first, but no mech gauge, and the low psi light didn't light up until the pump was going south at about 13 or 14 month intervals.

As for the relocation kit, I would say it's worth it. It definitely lets the pump work as it was intended, push instead of pull, and if you do have to change out, it makes for a lot less work. Plus if you decide to go with bigger sticks in the future and upgrade to a FASS, it takes that much more work out of the equation.

Thanks FF

I wasn't talking about a full FASS system just their replacement pump that's supposed to deliver 30% more fuel than stock. I like the thought of the relo kit easing the pump's workload.

I have the ddrp and edge ez. WOT wont pull below 11 psi. It idles at about 17 psi. I plan on putting some mild injectors Mach 1.6 on the pump. My old intank OEM replacement pump idled at 7 and ran about 4 psi. I doubt I can pull the DDRP below 7 psi with the injectors.

For those considering this pump, but daunted by the location. Don't be. I hemmed and hawed for nearly 2 weeks looking at the stock LP placement and what a BI$#@ it was gonna be to get to. I bit the bullet this week and was done in less than an hour. I could do one now in 30 minutes (long arms do help). Drain the filter canister via the water petcock. Unplug all the electrical connections on the filter, remove the two banjo bolts (one on side toward rear and one on bottom of filter this is for a 2000 model), take the filter assy off by removing the two bolts that hold it to the intake. Unplug harness to LP, unplug the fuel line (squeeze 2 plastic "ears" on LP side of hose connection). Remove pump via the three nuts on top of the mounting bracket. Follow instruction in box re: filter screen and WD-40 in new pump motor. Assemble old hoses onto new pump after cleaning/replacing banjo washers, leave LP->filter banjo a little loose. Put new LP onto bracket with new (provided) bolts. Connect tank -> LP hose connection. Re-install filter housing (good time to put in new filter), attach LP->filter hose and tighten banjos on both ends. Re-attach filter to VP-44 hose/banjo on bottom. reconnect all electrical fittings. Bleed/prime fuel system as you normally would after a filter change.
