Dana 80 behind 99 auto???
Dana 80 behind 99 auto???
It looks like I ended up with an open diff in my 4x4, just my luck!!! I have a brand new spicer lsd I can put in it that I bought for my old truck that I tore the r&p out of a few times. Ended up going with a jasper trade unit in that truck. Im pondering selling my full axle & the new lsd & buying a 01.5 or 02 dana 80 with an lsd, disc brakes, 3.55 gears & having the better of both worlds (99 is drums). Will a dually unit work & are there any issues with the brake lines, porporsioning valve or anything else. I plan on racing this truck some & am curious if anyone has raced in 4wd with an open rear diff & if an open diff is weaker than having an lsd. Thanks for any feedback.
The strength should be the same between open-diff and LS diffs,If I were drag racing I think I'd use a detroit locker,if they have those for the bigger rear ends,I'm thinking bigger=better most times, just find you a Dana 80 if ya can,not sure about the brake issues though, like blackdiesel said,5" wider for the dualy rear end.
