Dana 60 front Question
Dana 60 front Question
Just replaced the drivers front wheel bearing assm. and when I give the wheel a spin I hear a ticking noise out of the differential. I took the cover off expecting to find something obvious. Not the case ,lube was a nice amber color it has about 100K on it since last changed. No metal fines in bottom of case or on magnetic drain plug and gear wear looks even with no visable pitting. The noise is'nt loud but I'm not sure if it is normal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I noticed this too! I was worried at first, but it's just noise from the spider gears transmitting down the axle. You will only hear the noise on the drivers side due to the axle disconnect on the pasenger side. Hope that helps!
I first noticed noise in the front at 70mph ,I initially thought it was the passenger side. But when I jacked it up and spun the tires the right side sounded bad. Pulled the hub assmembly and it felt like rough bearings but not extremely bad. Just finished putting the cover back on the differential. Now when I finish replacing the seal on the vacuum pump I'll take it for a spin and hope it's fixed.
