CTD exhaust question
Howdy all,
I'm looking at an 01 CTD with 217000 KMS (135000 mi I think). I noticed when it started up, it was blowing white smoke. I'm a newb to diesels, so I don't know if this is a big deal or not. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Ian

Hello and welcome to the forums.
Based on your location, I'm going to guess that it was quite chilly when you started it.
If that is the case, more than likely it is normal, as long as it clears up after a couple minutes of running.

Ian,
mine pukes white smoke every time i start it below about 25 degrees F. I wouldn't worry about it. like phox said, make sure it clears up after driving a few minutes. in extreme cold (for me that is around 0 F) mine will smoke all the way to work and never clean up which is 33 miles.

Welcome! Mine did the same thing this summer when I went to Yellowstone. It got down into the low 20's, high teens and He didn't like that cold. I guess too much sunny 70 degree weather here in Cailf!
I found out that its normal, as long as it clears up like mentioned by phox.
