Question crank sensor location

I understand the sensor on my 1999 3500 is bhind yhe starter I need help to replace

If you still need to purchase parts, check with your local Cummins dealer. They should be quite a bit more reasonable than the dealer.

Crank Sensor

I just replaced mine. I had to take the starter off and pull the dipstick off where it goes on the engine after that one bolt and a plug and it was out. Hope this helps.

I just trimmed the plastic flange on one side of the sensor and it slid right in. It took around 1 minute, and that dipstick tube didn't act like it wanted to come off!
