Cps....

I am having trouble with an intermittent rough idle that I have traced to the crankshaft position sensor. It doesn't seem to be the wiring or a computer problem. It all started after the dealer replaced the original sensor and after replacing several since that failed the problem has remained. The sensors seem to fail at a rate of about once a year. Somewhere I saw something about needing a shim or spacer. Could someone elaborate on that? Any help would be much appreciated.

Is the end of the sensor getting chewed up?

It looked a little worn but very smooth.
