counter shaft synchronizers

Wow am I glad to find you guys. I need some help. I was heading back to MT from VA over Thanksgiving hauling mules and broke down in Columbus IN. I stopped and when we started again there was no getting it into gear. Had to shut it off put it in gear and start again. Got the trailer into a better spot and left it, then drove the pickup 25+ miles to Columbus. The problem was counter shaft synchronizers also some chipped teeth on counter shaft. There are 86,000 miles on it. (4x4 2500 '01 6spd) The extended warrantee was good for 100,000. Well so I thought. They denied it claiming consumer neglect and abuse. The garage did not agree, it was full of oil. I do not agree, I cannot remember any grinding snapping pinging or popping. I am weakly female not interested in drag racing or extreme 4x4ing. OK OK maybe not weakly but more interested in what makes a horse tick then a pickup. This insurance company drug their feet and made my visit to IN last 4 days longer then it had to. I was there 8 days. Not that I dislike IN but I had critters to pick up and thank goodness only one on to find a place for. They drug their feet sending an adjuster and then pictures had to be looked at etc. To make the long short I am . Before I get carried away I need to know could this be consumer neglect??? What did I do and how did I do it?? Does Dodge have anyone that might stick up for me?? Where do I find them? Thanks to all who take the time to read this! I have pictures and a box of parts.

Did they give you any idea what neglect they were talking about here? There is no regular service on the tranny as far as I remember, been a long time since I worried about warranty stuff though, and you were way under on the pull weight for it. All of this is providing they didn't find any aftermarket power toys in there somewhere.

I think what they are trying to say is driving it on to the garage was abuse and neglect. And they did not find any "power helpers".

This is actually the second time this company has done this to me. The first was when the alternator burned a connection off and shorted out. I was in WI and the garage was having a hard time with the company and I said put it together I have to keep going. I thought I could get something out of them later. WRONG! By not waiting for the yea or nay I broke the contract and they were off the hook so this time I stuck it out. Lost again!

Other than routine routine fluid changes (you'll have to check the manual for that mileage interval), there's no basic maintenance on a manual tranny. Do you use the clutch to shift the gears? It's pretty hard to bust a manual tranny like that. I did that exact same thing on my dad's vette but I was speed shifting at 6000rpm and pulling the stick to far back. It sounds like typical dealer bullstuff. I hope you get it figured out.
